Wild Asia Group Scheme (WAGS) Introduction to our Beluran smallholders

To summarize our work throughout 2020, the activities mainly consist of Online Data Management, collaboration with Wild Asia for RSPO Certification, Cooperative Establishment with the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia, SKM) and Audit Process which we manage to conduct successfully despite the delay and current government COVID-19-related movement restrictions. We were not able to conduct most of the scheduled training for 2020 due to the restriction movement and the audit is postponed to 2021. Therefore, all training scheduled to 2021.

Our collaboration with Wild Asia for RSPO certification and Cooperative establishment is the main priority as we are fully dedicated to putting all our effort into this task despite the constraints and restrictions. This work is crucial and was scheduled mostly for physical meetings because it requires face-to-face interactions with smallholders. We managed to schedule and conduct the orientation workshop “Introduction to Wild Asia Group Scheme (WAGS)”, WAGS registration, collection of WAGS applications form from smallholders, meeting with head of committee for cooperatives establishment, briefing from Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia for Cooperatives Establishment and submission of application and proposal for Kinabatangan Cooperatives group within the time of restriction movement was lifted. We are finally moving forward to the next phase of our work with Wild Asia in WAGS and Cooperatives Establishment and hopeful to be able to complete all training in 2021 before the scheduled audit process in October 2021.
