Agbado Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative, Agbado Community

The Okomu representative led an interactive session on Best Management Practices (BMP) for oil palm, emphasizing yield improvement. Key points included proper land and field management, use of improved planting materials, and efficient harvesting practices. A hands-on demonstration at the farmers farm covered identification of ripe fresh fruit bunches, safe harvesting, bunch stacking, pruning, and farm maintenance. Participants actively engaged in the exercises under technical supervision.

The TA Commodity representative presented the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) framework, focusing on sustainable production standards and livelihood diversification. Highlights included promoting alternative income sources, supporting women-led cooperatives, and building youth capacity in processing and value addition.

A brief group practical session followed:

    - Group 1: Good Agricultural Practices

    - Group 2: Sources of Income (Additional Livelihood Opportunities)

    - Group 3: Access to Finance and Support

The combined sessions enhanced participants’ practical understanding of sustainable and profitable oil palm farming.
